"Laittie, I can't believe it's been a year. Can't believe you waited." He slid his fingers through her hair, holding her gaze. "You have such faith in me. I scarcely believe I deserve it."
"I believe in us. I had to. My heart never doubted, but my mind...."
"Oh, Laittie," he whispered. "Didn't I say I would chase you through eternity? To be together, I would crash through worlds."
She pressed their fingers to one another before lacing them together. "To stand here with you now..." her breath was shaky. "To taste you, touch you, smell you, feel you..." her eyes met his. "You're real. And you were worth waiting for."
